Abstract
ABSTRACT The practice of providing wages to animal sacrificers (qurban slaughterers) is still commonly found in the implementation of qurban worship within society. One form of compensation frequently given is a portion of the gurban meat itself. This practice also occurs at Hidayatullah Mosque and At- Taqwa Mosque in Negeri Ujung Karang Village, Muara Sungkai District, North Lampung Regency. In its implementation, the slaughterers receive a portion of the qurban meat as remuneration for their services. This condition raises questions regarding the conformity of such a practice with Islamic law, considering that qurban meat is essentially intended for distribution to eligible recipients as prescribed by Islamic teachings. The research problems in this study are: how the practice of providing wages to qurban slaughterers is carried out at Hidayatullah Mosque and At- Taqwa Mosque in Negeri Ujung Karang Village, Muara Sungkai District, North Lampung Regency, and how Islamic law views this practice. The objective of this research is to identify the practice of compensating qurban slaughterers and to analyze its conformity with Islamic law. This study employs a field research approach with a descriptive qualitative method. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, and were analyzed using the perspective of Islamic law based on the Qur'an, Hadith, and the opinions of Islamic scholars. The results of this study indicate that the practice of compensating qurban slaughterers at Hidayatullah Mosque and At-Taqwa Mosque is carried out by giving them a portion of the qurban meat as payment for their services. This practice has become a local custom and is conducted based on mutual agreement between the committee and the slaughterers. However, according to Islamic law, providing a portion of the qurban meat as wages for slaughtering services is not permissible when the meat is specifically designated as compensation for the work performed. This is based on the Prophet Muhammad's prohibition against giving any part of the sacrificial animal as payment to the slaughterer. Therefore, the wages of the slaughterer should be paid from other sources outside the qurban animal. Consequently, this practice is not fully in accordance with the provisions of Islamic law regarding wages in the implementation of qurban worship. Keywords: Wages (Ujrah), Qurban Slaughterer, Islamic Law.
