Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh masih rendahnya minat baca siswa di Indonesia serta belum optimalnya pemanfaatan perpustakaan sekolah sebagai pusat sumber belajar, khususnya di SMA Negeri 1 Liwa Lampung Barat. Penelitian bertujuan untuk menganalisis bagaimana peran perpustakaan dalam meningkatkan minat baca siswa, dengan fokus pada peran perpustakaan sebagai pusat informasi, pusat inovasi, dan pusat sumber belajar, serta bagaimana peran guru dan pihak sekolah dalam mendampingi siswa memanfaatkan perpustakaan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi non partisipan, wawancara terstruktur, dan dokumentasi. Informan penelitian terdiri atas kepala perpustakaan dan 6 orang siswa sebagai informan utama, serta guru dan kepala sekolah sebagai informan pendukung. Data dianalisis melalui tahap reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan, sedangkan uji keabsahan data dilakukan melalui triangulasi teknik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perpustakaan SMA Negeri 1 Liwa telah menjalankan perannya melalui integrasi program literasi sekolah (Gerakan Literasi Sekolah/GLS), berupa kegiatan membaca 45 menit setiap hari Kamis bagi kelas XI dan XII, lomba literasi, pembuatan majalah dinding, serta sesi berbagi cerita. Perpustakaan juga terus mengembangkan koleksi bahan bacaan dan menjalin kerja sama dengan guru dalam mendukung kegiatan belajar mengajar. Meskipun demikian, minat baca siswa masih tergolong cukup dan belum optimal, dengan kendala berupa keterbatasan koleksi buku fiksi terbaru, persaingan dengan konten digital dan media sosial, serta keterbatasan waktu luang siswa. Secara keseluruhan, peran perpustakaan di SMA Negeri 1 Liwa telah mampu mendukung upaya penumbuhan budaya literasi, meskipun masih memerlukan inovasi berkelanjutan agar dapat mengoptimalkan minat baca siswa. ABSTRACT This research was motivated by the still low reading interest among students in Indonesia and the suboptimal utilization of school libraries as learning resource centers, particularly at SMA Negeri 1 Liwa, West Lampung. This study aims to analyze the role of the library in fostering students' reading interest, focusing on its function as an information center, an innovation center, and a learning resource center, as well as the role of teachers and school staff in guiding students to make use of the library. This study employed a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through non-participant observation, structured interviews, and documentation. The research informants consisted of the head librarian and six students as key informants, supported by teachers and the school principal as supporting informants. Data were analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was tested through technique triangulation. The results show that the library at SMA Negeri 1 Liwa has carried out its role through the integration of the School Literacy Movement (Gerakan Literasi Sekolah/GLS), including 45-minute reading sessions every Thursday for grades XI and XII, literacy competitions, wall magazine creation, and story-sharing sessions. The library also continues to develop its reading collections and collaborates with teachers to support teaching and learning activities. Nevertheless, students' reading interest remains moderate and not yet optimal, constrained by the limited availability of recent fiction titles, competition from digital content and social media, and students' limited free time. Overall, the library's role at SMA Negeri 1 Liwa has been able to support efforts to cultivate a culture of literacy, although continued innovation is still needed to optimize students' reading interest.
