Abstract

Kata Kunci: Religiusitas, Kontrol Diri, Regulasi Emosi, Long Distance Marriage (LDM) Long Distance Marriage (LDM) couples face severe psychological challenges due to physical separation that risks triggering loneliness, anxiety, and suspicion. These dynamics require individuals to possess adaptive emotion regulation to manage negative emotional responses for marital harmony. This study aims to determine the relationship between religiosity and emotion regulation, the relationship between self-control and emotion regulation, and the simultaneous relationship of both religiosity and self-control with emotion regulation in LDM couples. This quantitative correlational. The research subjects consisted of 126 early adult Muslim individuals (20–45 years old) undergoing LDM with a minimum marital duration of 5 months, Data were collected online via Google Forms using three modified Likert scale instruments consisting of the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ) based on Gross's 2007 theory, the Religiosity Scale based on Glock and Stark's theory, and the Self-Control Scale based on Everill's theory. All instruments demonstrated good reliability with Cronbach’s Alpha coefficients of 0.790, 0.950, and 0.918, respectively. Data analysis was performed using SPSS version 25. The results indicated that the majority of respondents fell into the "moderate" category across all three variables. Based on the hypothesis testing, it is concluded that: (1) There is a positive and significant relationship between religiosity and emotion regulation ( ; ), meaning that the higher the religiosity, the better the emotion regulation capabilities; (2) There is a positive and significant relationship between self-control and emotion regulation ( ; ), (3) There is a simultaneous, positive, and significant relationship between religiosity and self-control with emotion regulation ( ; ; ). The effective contribution of both variables to emotion regulation is 37.8% ( ), while the remaining 62.2% is influenced by other factors outside of this study.
