Abstract
Customer trust is understood as a result of continuous communication interactions between service officers and customers, rather than merely the outcome of product attributes. The purpose of this research is to examine how persuasive communication is practiced in gold pawn services to foster customer confidence and trust. This research adopts a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, non participant observation, and documentation, with informants selected using snowball sampling. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, and interpreted using persuasive communication theory and the Elaboration Likelihood Model (ELM). The findings reveal that customer trust is built through persuasive communication that emphasizes information transparency, empathetic interaction, employee professionalism, and the application of Islamic values in service delivery. The persuasion process occurs through a rational route when customers understand contracts and procedures thoroughly, as well as through a non rational route influenced by employees’ attitudes and behavior. These results highlight the strategic role of persuasive communication in strengthening customer trust and loyalty toward BPRS Bandar Lampung.
