Abstract

ABSTRAK Kepala madrasah memiliki peran penting dalam meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan, khususnya dalam mendorong kinerja guru. Namun, kinerja guru belum sepenuhnya optimal sehingga diperlukan kepemimpinan yang efektif. Salah satu gaya kepemimpinan yang relevan adalah kepemimpinan demokratis yang ditandai dengan kemampuan mengambil keputusan secara partisipatif, memotivasi, dan membangun komunikasi yang baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh gaya kepemimpinan demokratis kepala madrasah terhadap kinerja guru di MTs Muhammadiyah Sukarame Bandar Lampung. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan pendekatan survei. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh guru di MTs Muhammadiyah Sukarame Bandar Lampung dengan jumlah sampel 38 guru menggunakan teknik sampling jenuh. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner. Uji instrumen dilakukan melalui uji validitas dan reliabilitas. Analisis data menggunakan analisis deskriptif, uji prasyarat berupa uji normalitas, heteroskedastisitas, dan linearitas, serta uji hipotesis menggunakan regresi linear sederhana dan uji t. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa gaya kepemimpinan demokratis kepala madrasah berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kinerja guru. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan nilai t hitung sebesar 2,467 yang lebih besar dari t tabel sebesar 2,024 serta nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,005 yang lebih kecil dari 0,05, sehingga H₀ ditolak dan H₁ diterima. Artinya, terdapat pengaruh positif dan signifikan antara gaya kepemimpinan demokratis kepala madrasah terhadap kinerja guru. Selain itu, hasil analisis regresi linear sederhana menunjukkan bahwa gaya kepemimpinan demokratis memiliki hubungan yang searah dengan kinerja guru, di mana semakin baik penerapan kepemimpinan demokratis, maka semakin meningkat pula kinerja guru. Nilai koefisien determinasi (R²) sebesar 0,556 menunjukkan bahwa gaya kepemimpinan demokratis memberikan kontribusi sebesar 55,6 persen terhadap kinerja guru, sedangkan sisanya sebesar 44,4 persen dipengaruhi oleh faktor lain di luar penelitian. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa gaya kepemimpinan kepala madrasah memiliki pengaruh yang cukup besar terhadap kinerja guru di MTs Muhammadiyah Sukarame Bandar Lampung. ABSTRACT The principal plays an important role in improving the quality of education, particularly in enhancing teacher performance. However, teacher performance has not been fully optimal, indicating the need for effective leadership. One relevant leadership style is democratic leadership, which is characterized by the ability to make participatory decisions, motivate teachers, and establish effective communication. This study aims to determine the influence of the principal’s democratic leadership style on teacher performance at MTs Muhammadiyah Sukarame Bandar Lampung. This study employed a quantitative method with a survey approach. The population consisted of all teachers at MTs Muhammadiyah Sukarame Bandar Lampung, with a total sample of 38 teachers selected using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires. The research instruments were tested using validity and reliability tests. Data analysis techniques included descriptive analysis, prerequisite tests such as normality, heteroscedasticity, and linearity tests, and hypothesis testing using simple linear regression and t-test. The results of the study indicate that the principal’s democratic leadership style has a significant effect on teacher performance. This is evidenced by the t-value of 2.467, which is greater than the t-table value of 2.024, and a significance value of 0.005, which is less than 0.05, thus H₀ is rejected and H₁ is accepted. This means that there is a positive and significant influence between the principal’s democratic leadership style and teacher performance. In addition, the results of simple linear regression analysis show that democratic leadership has a positive relationship with teacher performance, where better implementation of democratic leadership leads to improved teacher performance. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.556 indicates that democratic leadership contributes 55.6 percent to teacher performance, while the remaining 44.4 percent is influenced by other factors outside this study. Therefore, it can be concluded that the principal’s leadership style has a substantial influence on teacher performance at MTs Muhammadiyah Sukarame Bandar Lampung.
