Abstract

ABSTRAK Pemberdayaan masyarakat merupakan salah satu upaya dalam meningkatkan kesejahteraan ekonomi masyarakat, khususnya di bidang pertanian. Kelompok tani memiliki peran penting sebagai wadah bagi petani untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan, keterampilan, serta kerja sama dalam kegiatan pertanian. Salah satu kelompok tani yang berperan dalam pemberdayaan ekonomi petani kopi adalah Kelompok Tani Mekar Jaya yang berada di Pekon Trimulyo, Kecamatan Gedung Surian, Kabupaten Lampung Barat. Mayoritas masyarakat di pekon tersebut bekerja sebagai petani kopi robusta sehingga keberadaan kelompok tani sangat dibutuhkan untuk membantu meningkatkan hasil produksi dan kesejahteraan petani. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui fungsi Kelompok Tani Mekar Jaya dalam pemberdayaan ekonomi petani kopi di Pekon Trimulyo. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Informan dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari Kepala Desa/Peratin, Ketua Kelompok Tani Mekar Jaya, dan anggota kelompok tani. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif untuk mengetahui peran kelompok tani dalam kegiatan pemberdayaan ekonomi masyarakat petani kopi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Kelompok Tani Mekar Jaya memiliki peran yang cukup penting dalam pemberdayaan ekonomi petani kopi di Pekon Trimulyo. Kelompok tani berfungsi sebagai fasilitator, edukator, motivator, dan mediator bagi masyarakat petani kopi. Kegiatan yang dilakukan meliputi pertemuan rutin, penyuluhan dan pelatihan pertanian, pengadaan sarana produksi, pengendalian hama dan penyakit tanaman, serta kegiatan panen dan pascapanen kopi robusta. Keberadaan kelompok tani memberikan dampak positif terhadap peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan petani, peningkatan hasil produksi kopi, serta peningkatan pendapatan dan kesejahteraan masyarakat. Namun demikian, masih terdapat beberapa kendala seperti keterbatasan modal, kurangnya partisipasi sebagian anggota, serta gangguan hama dan penyakit tanaman kopi. Farmer groups have an important role as a forum for farmers to improve knowledge, skills, and cooperation in agricultural activities. One of the farmer groups that plays a role in empowering the economy of coffee farmers is the Mekar Jaya Farmer Group located in Pekon Trimulyo, Gedung Surian District, West Lampung Regency. Most of the people in the village work as robusta coffee farmers, so the existence of the farmer group is very important to help improve production yields and the welfare of farmers. This study aims to determine the function of the Mekar Jaya Farmer Group in empowering the economy of coffee farmers in Pekon Trimulyo. This study used a qualitative research method. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. The informants in this study consisted of the Village Head, the Head of Mekar Jaya Farmer Group, and members of the farmer group. The data obtained were then analyzed descriptively to determine the role of the farmer group in community economic empowerment activities. The results of the study showed that the Mekar Jaya Farmer Group has an important role in empowering the economy of coffee farmers in Pekon Trimulyo. The farmer group functions as a facilitator, educator, motivator, and mediator for coffee farming communities. The activities carried out include regular meetings, agricultural counseling and training, procurement of production facilities, pest and plant disease control, as well as harvesting and post-harvest activities of robusta coffee. The existence of the farmer group has a positive impact on improving farmers’ knowledge and skills, increasing coffee production, and improving the income and welfare of the community. However, there are still several obstacles such as limited business capital, lack of participation from some members, and disturbances caused by pests and plant diseases.
