Abstract

ABSTRAK Kemampuan pemecahan masalah merupakan salah satu keterampilan penting yang harus dimiliki peserta didik dalam pembelajaran. Namun, berdasarkan hasil observasi di MTs Negeri 2 Pesawaran, kemampuan pemecahan masalah peserta didik masih tergolong rendah. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut adalah dengan menerapkan model Problem Based Learning berbantuan metode Root Cause Analysis (RCA). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model Problem Based Learning berbantuan metode Root Cause Analysis (RCA) terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa pada mata pelajaran IPA. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian Quasi Experimental Design. Sampel penelitian terdiri atas kelas VII A sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VII D sebagai kelas kontrol yang dipilih menggunakan teknik Cluster Random Sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah dalam bentuk pretest dan posttest. Uji hipotesis menggunakan Independent Sample t-Test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata nilai posttest kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas kontrol, yaitu 29,09 dan 25,78. Hasil N-Gain kelas eksperimen sebesar 50,38% dan kelas kontrol sebesar 32,21%. Hasil uji hipotesis menunjukkan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,000 < 0,05 sehingga H₀ ditolak dan H₀ diterima. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh model Problem Based Learning berbantuan metode Root Cause Analysis (RCA) terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa pada mata pelajaran IPA di MTs Negeri 2 Pesawaran. ABSTARCK Problem-solving skills are one of the essential competencies that students must possess in their learning. However, based on observations at MTs Negeri 2 Pesawaran, students’ problem-solving skills are still relatively low. One approach that can be taken to address this issue is to implement a Problem-Based Learning model supported by the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) method. This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem-Based Learning model assisted by the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) method on students’ problemsolving skills in science. This study uses a quantitative approach with a Quasi Experimental Design. The research sample consists of class VII A as the experimental class and class VII D as the control class, selected using the Cluster Random Sampling technique. Data collection techniques involved problem-solving ability tests in the form of pretests and posttests. Hypothesis testing used the Independent Sample t-Test. The results showed that the average posttest scores for the experimental class were higher than those of the control class, at 29.09 and 25.78, respectively. The N-Gain results were 50.38% for the experimental class and 32.21% for the control class. The results of the hypothesis test showed a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, so H₀ was rejected and H₀ was accepted. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the Problem-Based Learning model, supplemented by the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) method, has an impact on students’ problem-solving skills in science at MTs Negeri 2 Pesawaran.
