Abstract

ABSTRAK Berdasarkan hasil pra-penelitian di SMA Negeri 1 Pulau Panggung diketahui bahwa penguasaan konsep siswa kelas X masih tergolong rendah, dengan rata rata 40%. Hal ini diduga karena pembelajaran yang masih berpusat pada guru menyebabkan peserta didik cenderung menghafal tanpa memahami konsep secara mendalam. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model Brain Based Learning (BBL) terhadap kemampuan penguasaan konsep peserta didik kelas X SMA pada mata pelajaran Biologi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode quasi eksperimen dengan desain pretest-posttest control group design . Pengambilan sampel dilakukan menggunakan cluster random sampling . Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes penguasaan konsep berbentuk pilihan ganda. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji N-Gain dan uji hipotesis (setelah memenuhi uji normalitas dan homogenitas). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata N-Gain pada kelas eksperimen sebesar 0,57 dengan kategori sedang, sedangkan kelas kontrol sebesar 0,11 dengan kategori rendah. Hasil uji hipotesis menunjukkan adanya pengaruh signifikan model Brain Based Learning terhadap kemampuan penguasaan konsep peserta didik. Selain itu, hasil analisis indikator menunjukkan bahwa nilai penguasaan konsep pada kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas kontrol pada seluruh indikator kognitif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa model Brain Based Learning berpengaruh positif terhadap kemampuan penguasaan konsep peserta didik pada mata pelajaran Biologi kelas X SMA. Implikasi penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa model Brain Based Learning dapat dijadikan alternatif pembelajaran inovatif untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep peserta didik secara lebih optimal. ABSTRACT Based on the results of pre-research at SMA Negeri 1 Pulau Panggung, it is known that the mastery of concepts of class X students is still relatively low, with an average of 40%. This is thought to be because the learning is still centered on the teacher causing students to tend to memorize without understanding the concept in depth. This study aims to determine the effect of the Brain Based Learning (BBL) model on the concept mastery ability of class X high school students in Biology subjects. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasiexperimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. Sampling was carried out using cluster random sampling. The data collection technique was carried out through a concept mastery test in the form of multiple choices. Data were analyzed using the N-Gain test and hypothesis testing (after fulfilling the normality and homogeneity tests). The results showed that the average N-Gain in the experimental class was 0.57 with a medium category, while the control class was 0.11 with a low category. The results of the hypothesis test showed a significant effect of the Brain Based Learning model on students' concept mastery ability. In addition, the results of the indicator analysis showed that the concept mastery value in the experimental class was higher than the control class in all cognitive indicators. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the Brain Based Learning model has a positive effect on students' conceptual mastery abilities in the Biology subject of grade X of high school. The implications of this research indicate that the Brain Based Learning model can be used as an alternative innovative learning to improve students' conceptual understanding more optimally.
