Abstract

ABSTRACT Article history: Submitted: 27 January 2026 Final Revised: 11 February 2026 Accepted: 16 March 2026 Published: 30 April 2026 This research aims to analyse educational environmental management through waste management as an effort to foster an environmental caring attitude among students at MTs Negeri 2 Bandar Lampung. This study uses a qualitative approach with field research conducted in January 2026. Participants selected purposively included madrasah principals, teachers, cleaning staff, and students. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing with triangulation for data validity. The results show that waste management is carried out through planning, organising, implementing, and controlling. Planning sets the goal of a clean environment and the habituation of environmental care. Organization is carried out through the division of tasks between student officers and Youth Health Cadres. Implementation is done through regular waste sorting and environmental education by the KKR. Control is conducted through periodic monitoring and evaluation. The novelty of this research lies in waste management as part of educational environmental management, integrated with character building through active student Keywords: Environmental Management Waste Management Character Education Environmental Concern Creative Commons License2 involvement. This program demonstrates that a participatory approach can sustainably enhance environmental awareness and care behaviours in the school environment and in student’s daily lives.
