Abstract

ABSTRACT One activity that people engage is reading. Many students struggle to understand texts because lack prior knowledge and ineffective reading strategies. Based on the preliminary research, it was found that students’ reading comprehension level is low. Adjunct Display is a learning strategy that helps students understand and remember information by transforming it into visual or structured forms, such as charts and story map. The objective of this study was to find the significant influence of Adjunct Display Strategy on Reading Comprehension of the eleventh grade at SMA Jannatun Naim International College Boarding School. This research used a Quasi-experimental design, with the eleventh grade students of SMA Jannatun Naim International College Boarding School as the population. The sample was selected using cluster random sampling consisted of two groups. Class XI Alexandria was the experimental class with 26 students, while class XI Gaza was the control class with 25 students. The experimental class was taught using Adjunct Display Strategy, while the control class was taught using Teacher Centered Learning. Data were collected through multiple choice tests for the pre-test and post-test and the instrument had been tried out before the treatments. This research analyzed the data using SPSS and the Mann-Whitney U test. The analysis showed the Sig (P-value) was <0,001, which is less than α = 0.05. This indicates that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, confirming a significant Influence of Adjunct Display Strategy on Reading Comprehension of the eleventh grade at SMA Jannatun Naim International College Boarding School.
