Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to examine students’ perceptions of the use of the Spotify application as a learning tool to improve pronunciation skills among members of the English Club at MAN 1 Pringsewu. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive case study design. Five students were selected through purposive sampling based on their active use of Spotify for pronunciation learning. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and documentation and analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that students had positive perceptions of using Spotify as a learning tool. Students felt comfortable and motivated, supported by Spotify’s features such as clear audio quality and synchronized lyrics that facilitated pronunciation practice. Spotify was also considered effective in helping students recognize and imitate pronunciation, accent, word stress, and intonation. In addition, regular exposure to English songs contributed to subconscious improvement in pronunciation and increased students’ confidence. Although minor issues such as advertisements and automatic playlist changes were reported, these did not significantly affect the learning process. Overall, Spotify is perceived as an engaging, flexible, and useful learning tool that supports students’ pronunciation development.
