Abstract

ABSTRAK SPIRITUALITAS PETANI DI ERA POSITIVISTIK STUDI PADA PRAKTEK PERTANIAN DI DESA MARGO LESTARI KABUPATEN LAMPUNG SELATAN Oleh: Tri Widia Penelitian ini membahas spiritualitas petani di era positivistik dengan studi pada praktik pertanian di Desa Margo Lestari, Kabupaten Lampung Selatan. Fokus utama penelitian ini adalah mengkaji bentuk serta praktik spiritual yang melekat dalam kegiatan bertani, seperti tradisi sedekah bumi, dan menelusuri bagaimana nilai-nilai spiritual tersebut tetap bertahan di tengah derasnya arus modernisasi. Fenomena ini menarik untuk dikaji karena bertentangan dengan pandangan positivisme yang dikemukakan oleh Auguste Comte, yang menyatakan bahwa masyarakat modern seharusnya berpijak pada pengetahuan ilmiah dan empiris, bukan pada kepercayaan metafisis. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori Homi K. Bhabha sebagai landasan analisis untuk memahami dinamika antara tradisi lokal dan pengaruh modernitas. Pendekatan yang digunakan bersifat kualitatif dengan metode penelitian lapangan. Data diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi terhadap aktivitas pertanian serta praktik keagamaan masyarakat setempat. Analisis data dilakukan dengan pendekatan filosofis melalui metode verstehen, hermeneutika, interpretasi, dan kesinambungan historis guna mengungkap makna di balik praktik spiritual tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kepercayaan terhadap tradisi sedekah bumi masih menjadi bagian penting dalam kehidupan masyarakat petani di Desa Margo Lestari. Mitos, ritual, dan tradisi berperan sebagai pedoman praktis sekaligus sistem pengetahuan lokal yang membentuk cara berpikir masyarakat. Selain itu, praktik spiritual tersebut juga berfungsi sebagai alat kontrol sosial yang menjaga keharmonisan hubungan antara manusia, alam, dan Tuhan di tengah perubahan sosial yang terus berlangsung. The main focus of the research is to examine the forms and spiritual practices embedded in farming activities, such as the sedekah bumi (earth-offering) tradition, and to investigate how these spiritual values persist amid the strong current of modernization. This phenomenon is particularly interesting because it contradicts Auguste Comte’s positivist theory, which argues that modern societies should be grounded in scientific and empirical knowledge rather than metaphysical beliefs. The study employs Homi K. Bhabha’s theoretical framework as the basis for analyzing the dynamics between local traditions and the influence of modernity. It adopts a qualitative approach with field research methods. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation of agricultural and religious activities within the community. Data analysis was conducted through a philosophical lens, using verstehen, hermeneutics, interpretation, and historical continuity to uncover the meanings underlying these spiritual practices. The findings reveal that belief in the sedekah bumi tradition remains a vital aspect of the farmers’ lives in Margo Lestari Village. Myths, rituals, and traditions serve as both practical guidelines and local systems of knowledge that shape the community’s worldview. Furthermore, these spiritual practices function as a form of social control that maintains harmony between humans, nature, and God amid the ongoing processes of social change.
