Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze the influence of Financial Behavior, Experience Regret, Overconfidence, and Mental Accounting on cryptocurrency investment decisions, as well as to examine these decisions from an Islamic business perspective among Generation Z in Bandar Lampung City. This research is motivated by the high level of interest in crypto investment among Generation Z despite the volatile and speculative nature of the market. It also highlights the importance of understanding whether their investment decisions align with the principles of prudence, transparency, and benefit in Islamic business. This study used a quantitative approach with an explanatory research method. Data were collected through a questionnaire distributed to 100 Generation Z respondents in Bandar Lampung who were interested in crypto investment. The sampling technique used purposive sampling, and the data are analyzed using SmartPLS 4 through validity tests, reliability tests, t-tests, and coefficient of determination (R²) analysis. The results show that Financial Behavior and Mental Accounting have a positive and significant effect on cryptocurrency investment decisions. In contrast, Experience Regret and Overconfidence do not have a significant effect on Generation Z’s investment decisions. These findings indicate that good financial behavior and proper mental financial grouping encourage more planned investment decisions, while emotional factors and excessive confidence are not the main determinants. In Islamic business perspective, cryptocurrency investment decisions are considered to fulfill the principles of fairness, prudence, benefit, transparency, and freedom from usury (riba), uncertainty (gharar), and gambling (maysir). Therefore, investors need to consider ethical and sharia aspects before making investment decisions.
