Abstract

ABSTRAK Judi online menjadi tantangan serius karena kemajuan teknologi memungkinkan akses yang luas dan mudah, bahkan sampai ke wilayah pedesaan. Dalam konteks ini, aparat kepolisian dituntut tidak hanya melakukan tindakan represif, tetapi juga mampu membangun strategi komunikasi yang efektif agar dapat menyentuh kesadaran masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui strategi komunikasi yang dilakukan oleh Polres Lampung Barat dalam memberantas judi online di Desa Kembahang, Kecamatan Batu Brak. Maraknya judi online yang menjangkau berbagai kalangan usia dan status sosial di desa tersebut mendorong aparat kepolisian untuk mengambil langkah langkah komunikatif yang tidak hanya bersifat represif, tetapi juga persuasif dan edukatif. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Informan utama dalam penelitian ini adalah aparat kepolisian, tokoh masyarakat, serta warga yang terlibat maupun terdampak oleh praktik judi online. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Polres Lampung Barat menggunakan kombinasi strategi preventif dan represif dalam menghadapi kasus judi online. Strategi preventif dilakukan melalui sosialisasi dan edukasi kepada masyarakat, sedangkan strategi represif berupa penindakan hukum terhadap pelaku judi online. Namun demikian, penegakan hukum masih menghadapi kendala seperti minimnya barang bukti, rendahnya kesadaran masyarakat, serta adanya keterlibatan oknum yang melindungi aktivitas perjudian. Kata Kunci: Strategi Komunikasi, Judi Online. ABSTRACT Online gambling poses a serious challenge due to technological advancements that allow broad and easy access—even in rural areas. In this context, the police are required not only to take repressive action but also to develop effective communication strategies to raise public awareness. This study aims to identify the communication strategies implemented by the West Lampung Police (Polres Lampung Barat) in combating online gambling in Kembahang Village, Batu Brak District. The widespread nature of online gambling, which affects various age groups and social classes in the village, has prompted law enforcement to take not only repressive but also persuasive and educational measures. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation. The main informants in this study were police officers, community leaders, and residents who were either involved in or affected by online gambling practices. The results show that the West Lampung Police employ a combination of preventive and repressive strategies to address online gambling cases. Preventive strategies are carried out through public education and socialization, while repressive strategies involve legal enforcement against gambling offenders. However, law enforcement efforts face challenges such as the lack of physical evidence, low public awareness, and the involvement of certain individuals who protect gambling activities.
