Abstract

ABSTRACT Economic development in Eastern Indonesia still faces various challenges, particularly related to the limited availability of economic and social infrastructure, which impacts the low level of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP). Regional development disparities indicate unequal access to infrastructure such as roads, electricity, and healthcare services. In fact, infrastructure plays an important role in driving economic growth and improving community welfare. This study aims to analyze the effect of road infrastructure, electricity infrastructure, and health on Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) in Eastern Indonesia, as well as to examine it from an Islamic economic perspective. The research method used is descriptive research with a quantitative approach. The type of data used is secondary data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and other related sources. The data analysis technique employs panel data regression, model selection tests, and classical assumption tests using E-Views version 10. The data covers four provinces in Eastern Indonesia, namely Maluku, North Maluku, Papua, and West Papua, during the period 2014–2023. The results show that partially, road infrastructure has a positive and significant effect on GRDP. Meanwhile, electricity infrastructure has a positive but insignificant effect on GRDP, and the health variable has a negative and insignificant effect on GRDP. Simultaneously, road infrastructure, electricity, and health have a significant effect on GRDP in Eastern Indonesia. The coefficient of determination indicates that the independent variables are able to explain 95.72% of the variation in GRDP. From the perspective of Islamic economics, the development of economic and social infrastructure is part of efforts to achieve public welfare (maslahah ‘āmmah) and overall prosperity (falāh). Road, electricity, and health infrastructure are the responsibility of the state to improve community welfare in a just and equitable manner.
