Abstract

ABSTRACT Writing is an essential skill that allows students to express their thoughts, ideas, and knowledge in a structured and clear way. Based on preliminary research at SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Bandar Lampung, it was found that most students in the eighth grade had difficulties in writing, especially in descriptive text. The objective of this research was to find out whether there is an effective of Graffiti Board Strategy towards students’ ability in writing descriptive text with an ecological theme at eighth grade of SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Bandar Lampung This research methodology used was quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental nonequivalent design. The population of this research was the eighth grade of SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Bandar Lampung that was consisted of 154 students from five classes. The samples of this research were 2 classes consisting of 62 students. VIII C as experimental class, VIII D as control class. In collecting the data, the researcher used instrument writing test in the form of a pre-test and a post-test to. The researcher analyzed the data by using SPSS 27 (Statistical Package for Social Science). From the data analysis, it was obtained that Sig = 0.018 and a = 0.05. It means Ha is accepted because Sig < α = 0.05. Based on the computation, it can be concluded that was significant of using graffiti board strategy towards student students’ ability in writing descriptive text with an ecological theme at eighth grade of SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Bandar Lampung
