Abstract

Limitations in practical facilities, the lack of alignment with industry based work standards, and an inconsistent quality culture within schools have affected the effectiveness of Teaching factory implementation. In response to these conditions, this research aims to analyze the influence of Total Quality Management (TQM) implementation and organizational commitment on the effectiveness of Teaching Factory practices, focusing on SMK Negeri 2 and SMK Negeri 4 Bandar Lampung as representative schools implementing the Teaching factory program. This study employed a quantitative approach with a survey design. The population consisted of teachers and educational staff directly involved in the Teaching Factory programs at state Vocational High Schools in Bandar Lampung, with 75 respondents selected using Cluster Sampling. Data were collected through structured Likert-scale questionnaires supported by documentation and field observations. Data analysis included validity tests, reliability tests, classical assumption tests, and multiple linear regression to examine the partial and simultaneous influence of TQM and organizational commitment on Teaching Factory effectiveness. he results indicate that all research instruments were reliable, with Cronbach’s Alpha values exceeding 0.76. The regression analysis produced the model Y = 4.726 + 0.664X1 + 0.253X2, demonstrating that both TQM implementation and organizational commitment have a positive and significant influence on the effectiveness of Teaching Factory implementation. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.515 indicates that 51.5% of the variance in Teaching Factory effectiveness is explained by the two variables, while the remaining percentage was influenced by other factors outside the model. These findings confirm that a stronger application of TQM principles and higher levels of organizational commitment enhance the effectiveness of Teaching Factory practices in meeting industry standards, improving the quality of instructional production processes, and strengthening students’ readiness for the workforce.
