Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keaktifan belajar peserta didik pada mata pelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) melalui penerapan model Discovery Learning tipe Treasure Hunt. Latar belakang penelitian didasarkan pada rendahnya partisipasi siswa, khususnya dalam diskusi kelompok, akibat penggunaan metode konvensional yang monoton dan keterbatasan akses teknologi di sekolah. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain eksperimen, melibatkan siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Tanjung Bintang. Sampel dipilih secara simple random sampling, terdiri dari kelas kontrol yang diajar dengan metode konvensional dan kelas eksperimen yang mendapatkan perlakuan Discovery Learning tipe Treasure Hunt. Instrumen penelitian berupa angket keaktifan belajar yang telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Analisis data menunjukkan bahwa model ini secara signifikan meningkatkan keaktifan siswa, terutama pada aspek diskusi kelompok yang sebelumnya menjadi indikator terlemah. Kebaruan penelitian terletak pada integrasi Discovery Learning dengan metode permainan Treasure Hunt dalam konteks pembelajaran PAI di tingkat menengah atas, yang sebelumnya belum banyak dieksplorasi. Hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa kombinasi kedua pendekatan mampu menciptakan suasana belajar yang lebih interaktif, kolaboratif, dan menyenangkan, sekaligus menggeser peran guru dari pusat pembelajaran menjadi fasilitator. Implikasi penelitian ini tidak hanya memberikan kontribusi teoretis pada pengembangan model pembelajaran aktif, tetapi juga menawarkan solusi praktis bagi guru dalam merancang strategi pembelajaran adaptif dan kontekstual sesuai kebutuhan peserta didik, bahkan pada lingkungan dengan keterbatasan teknologi. Kata Kunci: Keaktifan Belajar, Discovery Learning, Treasure Hunt, Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) ii ABSTRACT This study seeks to enhance students’ learning engagement in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) through the application of the Discovery Learning model with the Treasure Hunt type. The research is motivated by the low level of student participation, particularly in group discussions, largely resulting from monotonous conventional methods and limited access to technology in schools. A quantitative experimental design was employed, involving tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Tanjung Bintang. The sample was selected through simple random sampling, comprising a control class taught using conventional methods and an experimental class taught with the Discovery Learning–Treasure Hunt approach. The research instrument was a validated and reliable learning engagement questionnaire. Data analysis revealed that the model significantly improved student engagement, with the most notable increase in group discussion participation, previously the weakest indicator.The novelty of this study lies in integrating Discovery Learning with the Treasure Hunt game method within the context of Islamic Religious Education at the upper secondary level—an approach rarely examined in prior research. The findings indicate that this combination fosters a more interactive, collaborative, and enjoyable learning environment, while also redefining the teacher’s role from the center of instruction to that of a facilitator.The implications extend beyond theoretical contributions to the development of active learning models. Practically, this study offers teachers a strategic reference for designing adaptive and contextual learning approaches suited to diverse student needs, even in contexts where access to technology is limited.
