Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model Project Based Learning (PJBL) melalui proyek Eco-Brick terhadap pengembangan karakter peduli lingkungan pada siswa kelas V SD Muhammadiyah 1 Bandar Lampung. Latar belakang penelitian ini didasari oleh masih rendahnya kesadaran siswa dalam menjaga kebersihan lingkungan sekolah serta meningkatnya jumlah sampah plastik yang belum terkelola secara optimal. Melalui penerapan model PJBL, diharapkan siswa memperoleh pengalaman belajar yang bermakna dengan melibatkan diri secara langsung dalam kegiatan nyata berupa pembuatan Eco-Brick, yaitu proses pemanfaatan sampah plastik menjadi bahan bangunan ramah lingkungan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuasi eksperimen dengan desain pretest-posttest control group design. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas V yang dibagi menjadi dua kelompok, yaitu kelompok eksperimen yang memperoleh pembelajaran menggunakan model PJBL melalui proyek Eco-Brick dan kelompok kontrol yang menggunakan model pembelajaran konvensional. Data dikumpulkan melalui angket karakter peduli lingkungan yang telah divalidasi oleh ahli, serta dianalisis menggunakan uji statistik inferensial untuk mengetahui pengaruh perlakuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh positif dan signifikan penerapan model Project Based Learning melalui proyek Eco-Brick terhadap pengembangan karakter peduli lingkungan siswa. Siswa pada kelompok eksperimen menunjukkan peningkatan sikap peduli terhadap kebersihan, kebiasaan memilah sampah, serta kesadaran dalam menjaga kelestarian lingkungan sekolah. Dengan demikian, penerapan model Project Based Learning berbasis proyek Eco-Brick dapat dijadikan alternatif inovatif dalam pembelajaran untuk membentuk karakter peduli lingkungan sejak usia dini, sekaligus mendukung implementasi Proyek Penguatan Profil Pelajar Pancasila (P5) dalam Kurikulum Merdeka. Kata kunci: Project Based Learning, Eco-Brick, Karakter Peduli Lingkungan, Sekolah Dasar ii ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the effect of the Project Based Learning (PBL) model through the Eco-Brick project on the development of environmental care character among fifth-grade students at SD Muhammadiyah 1 Bandar Lampung. The background of this research stems from the low awareness of students in maintaining school cleanliness and the increasing amount of unmanaged plastic waste. Through the implementation of the PBL model, students are expected to gain meaningful learning experiences by directly engaging in real-world activities, particularly the creation of Eco-Bricks, which utilize plastic waste as an environmentally friendly building material. This research employed a quasi-experimental approach with a pretest-posttest control group design. The subjects consisted of fifth grade students divided into two groups: the experimental group, which received learning through the PBL model using the Eco-Brick project, and the control group, which was taught through conventional methods. Data were collected using a validated environmental care character questionnaire and analyzed through inferential statistical tests to determine the effect of the treatment. The results revealed a positive and significant influence of the Project Based Learning model through the Eco-Brick project on the development of students’ environmental care character. Students in the experimental group showed increased awareness and behavior in maintaining cleanliness, sorting waste, and preserving the school environment. Therefore, implementing the Project Based Learning model through Eco-Brick projects can serve as an innovative learning strategy to foster environmental responsibility from an early age while supporting the Strengthening of the Pancasila Student Profile (P5) in the Merdeka Curriculum.
