Abstract

ABSTRACT Writing is an important skill in English learning, but many students still struggle, especially in developing exposition texts. This difficulty is often caused by limited vocabulary, lack of ideas, and the inability to organize arguments coherently. Therefore, a suitable learning technique is needed to improve students’ writing ability. The objective of this research was to determine whether the Creative Problem-Solving (CPS) technique significantly influences the expository writing ability of the eleventh-grade students at MAN 1 Pringsewu in the academic year 2025/2026. This research used a quasi-experimental design with a control group. The sample consisted of 61 students of class XI MAN 1 Pringsewu. The data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests and then analyzed using hypothesis testing with a paired sample t-test. Based on the result of the data analysis, the conclusion can be drawn as follows: there was a significant influence of using Creative Problem-Solving towards students’ writing of exposition text at the eleventh grade of MAN 1 Pringsewu. This finding was supported by the result from sig. (2-tailed) of equal variance assumed in the independent sample t-test table, where the sig. (2-tailed) was 0.000. Since this value is lower than α = 0.05, it means that the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. The result of the hypothetical test proved that the application of the Creative Problem-Solving technique improved students’ ability to write exposition texts effectively.
