Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh perkembangan AI yang semakin pesat dan banyak inovasi yang hadir dari bidang teknologi telah mempengaruhi dunia pendidikan terutama di perguruan tinggi. Artificial Intelligence kini masuk dalam cakupan yang lebih luas munculnya platform digital berbentuk chatbot yang bisa menjawab pertanyaan pengguna dengan luas seperti ChatGPT. Pada waktu sekarang ChatGPT banyak digunakan di kalangan mahasiswa. Berdasarkan hasil pengamatan yang penulis lakukan menunjukan bahwa mahasiswa Fakultas Adab Universitas Islam Negeri Raden Intan Lampung sudah memanfaatkan ChatGPT sebagai alat dalam melakukan penelusuran informasi, namun dalam penggunaannya mahasiswa terlalu percaya terhadap informasi yang disediakan tanpa mencari tahu kebenaran informasinya. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis pemanfaatan ChatGPT dalam penelusuran informasi mahasiswa Fakultas Adab, Universitas Islam Negeri Raden Intan Lampung serta bagaimana tahapan dalam melakukan penelusuran informasi memalu platform ChatGPT. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif untuk menggambarkan pemanfaatan ChatGPT dalam penelusuran informasi mahasiswa. Analisis menggunakan teori pemanfaatan teknologi menurut Thompson dan David Ellis untuk menganalisis tahapan penelusuran informasi mahasiswa menggunakan ChatGPT. Data diperoleh berdasarkan observasi dan wawancara kemudian dianalisis melalui reduksi, penyajian dan penarikan kesimpulan. Uji keabsahan data menggunakan triangulasi teknik Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa sebagian besar mahasiswa menggunakan ChatGPT setiap hari untuk membantu proses penelusuran informasi akademik seperti mencari referensi, merangkum, memperbaiki kosakata, serta menyusun tugas dan karya ilmiah. Tahapan yang digunakan oleh mahasiswa Fakultas Adab Universitas Islam Negeri Raden Intan lampung sudah sesuai dengan model penelusuran informasi menurut David Ellis yaitu Starting, Chaining, Browsing, Differentiating, Verifying, Monitoring, Extracting, dan Ending. Tahap Chaining dan Browsing mahasiswa mampu menelusuri, membaca, dan mengevaluasi relevansi informasi secara mandiri. Dalam tahap Differentiating dan Verifying, mahasiswa mampu menunjukkan ketelitian dengan memeriksa kualitas, kredibilitas, serta keakuratan sumber melalui perbandingan lintas platform dan jurnal ilmiah. Tahap Monitoring dan Extracting memperlihatkan bahwa mahasiswa mahasiswa mampu dalam memperbarui pengetahuan sekaligus mengorganisasi informasi secara efisien untuk keperluan akademik. Pada tahap Ending, informasi yang diperoleh digunakan secara tepat sebagai pendukung penyusunan karya ilmiah.ABSTRACT This research is motivated by the rapid development of AI and the many innovations emerging from the technology field that have influenced the world of education, especially in higher education. Artificial Intelligence is now entering a broader scope with the emergence of digital platforms in the form of chatbots that can answer user questions broadly, such as ChatGPT. Currently, ChatGPT is widely used among students. Based on the results of the author's observations, it shows that students of the Faculty of Adab, Raden Intan State Islamic University, Lampung have used ChatGPT as a tool for searching information, but in using it, students are too trusting of the information provided without checking the accuracy of the information. This study aims to analyze the use of ChatGPT in information searches for students of the Faculty of Adab, Raden Intan State Islamic University, Lampung and how the stages in searching information through the ChatGPT platform. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach to describe the use of ChatGPT in student information searches. The analysis utilizes Thompson and David Ellis's theory of technology utilization to analyze the stages of student information searches using ChatGPT. Data were obtained through observation and interviews, then analyzed through data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was tested using triangulation techniques. The results of this study indicate that most students use ChatGPT daily to assist in the process of searching for academic information such as searching for references, summarizing, improving understanding, and compiling assignments and scientific papers. The stages used by students of the Faculty of Adab, Raden Intan State Islamic University, Lampung are in accordance with the information retrieval model according to David Ellis, namely Starting, Chaining, Browsing, Differentiating, Verifying, Monitoring, Extracting, and ending. In the Chaining and Browsing stages, students are able to search, read, and transmit relevant information independently. In the Differentiating and Verifying stages, students are able to demonstrate thoroughness by checking the quality, credibility, and accuracy of sources through cross-platform observations and scientific journals. The Monitoring and Extracting stages show that students are able to update knowledge while organizing information efficiently for academic purposes. In the Ending stage, the information obtained is used appropriately to support the preparation of scientific papers. iii iv v vi
