Abstract

ABSTRACT This research aimed to investigate the effect of the Starfall website on students‟ reading comprehension in narrative texts. The study was motivated by the low reading comprehension skills of ninth-grade students at SMPN 31 Bandar Lampung, especially in understanding complex and lengthy texts. Starfall, as a digital learning platform, was introduced to provide interactive and engaging reading materials. The research employed a quasi-experimental design with a pretest and post-test administered to two groups: an experimental group using Starfall and a control group without it. The participants were selected through cluster random sampling, and the instrument was a multiple-choice test covering aspects of reading comprehension based on Brown‟s theory, including main idea, inference, detail, and vocabulary. The results revealed a significant improvement in the experimental group compared to the control group. It can be concluded that the use of the Starfall website positively influenced students‟ reading comprehension in narrative texts. This finding highlights the potential of digital learning media to enhance literacy skills and may serve as a reference for teachers in selecting effective instructional tools.
