Abstract

Kata kunci: Literasi membaca, Kemampuan Self Efficacy, Self Directed Learning. iii ABSTRACT Based on the results of preliminary research conducted at Mts N 2 Tanggamus, students' reading literacy and self efficacy skills are still lacking. Therefore, new innovations are needed in the application of appropriate learning models. This study aims to determine the effect of the Self-Directed Learning model on the reading literacy and self-efficacy skills of seventh-grade students in biology. This study is a quantitative study with a quasi-experimental design. The design used is a pre-test and post-test control group design. Data collection techniques consist of reading literacy tests and non-tests in the form of self-efficacy questionnaires and documentation. The research instruments consist of 10 questions to measure reading literacy and 16 questions to measure self-efficacy. The population in this study was all seventh-grade students at Mts N 2 Tanggamus. The sampling technique used in this study was cluster random sampling, which resulted in class VII.R (experimental class) and class VII.A (control class). The experimental class used the Self-Directed Learning model, and the control class used the Discovery Learning model. The analysis test used was an independent t-test for reading literacy and self-efficacy, which showed the same value, namely sig. (2-tailed) of 0.001 < a (0.05), so H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. Thus, the results of this study can be concluded that there is an effect of using the Self Directed Learning model. Keywords: Reading literacy, Self-efficacy, Self-directed learning.
