Abstract

ABSTRAK Berdasarkan hasil observasi awal yang dilakukan di MIS Al￾Hikmah Bandar Lampung, penelitian ini difokuskan pada batasan masalah yaitu pemahaman konsep IPA pada 4 indikator yang tergolong rendah yaitu indikator meringkas, menarik inferensi, membandingkan dan menjelaskan. Pendekatan pembelajaran dan media yang digunakan belum mampu memaksimalkan pemahaman konsep IPA peserta didik... Oleh karena itu, diperlukan inovasi pembelajaran yang mendorong pemahaman siswa. Salah satu pendekatan pembelajaran yang dapat diterapkan adalah Pendekatan STEM Berbantuan Media Interaktif PhET Simulation. Pendekatan ini mengintegrasikan 4 bidang ilmu, dapat membantu peserta didik memahami konsep IPA secara lebih mendalam dan terintegrasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pendekatan STEM berbantuan media Interaktif PhET Simulation terhadap pemahaman konsep IPA peserta didik kelas VI MIS Al- Hikmah Bandar Lampung. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode Quasi Experimental Design menggunakan desain Posttest-Only Control Design. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas VI MIS Al- Hikmah Bandar Lampung. Sampel dipilih secara acak menggunakan teknik Cluster Random Sampling, yaitu kelas VI B sebagai kelas eksperimen dan VI A sebagai kelas kontrol. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes uraian, dengan uji normalitas dan homogenitas sebagai prasyarat, dan pengujian hipotesis menggunakan Independent t-test. Berdasarkan pengolahan data hasil analisis uji normalitas dan homogenitas diperoleh bahwa kedua kelas sampel normal dan homogen sehingga untuk pengujian hipotesis menggunakan Independent t-test (uji-t) dengan taraf signifikan 5% (0,05), yakni diperoleh 0,000 < 0,05 yang menyatakan H0 ditolak dan H1 diterima sehingga dapat ditarik kesimpulan bahwa terdapat pengaruh pendekatan STEM berbantuan media Interaktif PhET Simulation terhadap pemahaman konsep IPA Peserta Didik Kelas VI MIS Al- Hikmah Bandar Lampung. iii Kata Kunci: Pendekatan STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), Pemahaman Konsep IPA ABSTRACT Based on the results of the initial observations conducted at MIS Al-Hikmah Bandar Lampung, this study focuses on the problem limitations, specifically on the understanding of science concepts in 4 indicators that are considered low, namely summarizing, making inferences, comparing, and explaining. The learning approaches and media used so far have not been able to maximize students' understanding of science concepts. Therefore, innovative learning methods that enhance student understanding are needed. One learning approach that can be applied is the STEM Approach supported by Interactive PhET Simulation Media. This approach integrates 4 fields of science and can help students understand science concepts more deeply and in an integrated manner. This study aims to determine the effect of the STEM approach supported by Interactive PhET Simulation Media on the understanding of science concepts among sixth-grade students at MIS Al-Hikmah Bandar Lampung. This type of research is quantitative research using a Quasi Experimental Design with a Posttest-Only Control Design. The population of the study is all sixth-grade students of MIS Al-Hikmah Bandar Lampung. The sample was randomly selected using the Cluster Random Sampling technique, with class VI B as the experimental class and VI A as the control class. The data collection technique used essay tests, with normality and homogeneity tests as prerequisites, and hypothesis testing was conducted using an Independent t-test. Based on the data processing results from the normality and homogeneity tests, it was found that both sample classes were normal and homogeneous, so hypothesis testing was conducted using an Independent t-test at a 5% (0.05) significance level, obtaining 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that H0 was rejected and H1 accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is an effect of the STEM approach assisted by Interactive PhET Simulation media on students' understanding of science concepts at MIS Al-Hikmah Bandar Lampung. iv v Keywords: STEM Approach (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), Understanding of Science Concepts
