Abstract
Abstract. This study aims to analyze the effect of inflation, corruption perception index, and exchange rate on Foreign Direct Investment in the ASEAN-5 region during the period of 2019–2024 from an Islamic economic perspective. The research method used is quantitative with a panel data approach obtained from World Bank and Trading Economics publications. The analysis was conducted using Eviews 13 software through Chow, Hausman, and Lagrange multiplier tests to determine the best model. The results show that inflation, corruption perception index, and exchange rate collectively have a significant effect on Foreign Direct Investment. Partially, inflation has a significant positive effect, the corruption perception index also has a significant positive effect, while the exchange rate has a negative but insignificant effect on Foreign Direct Investment in ASEAN-5. The coefficient of determination (R²) value of 0.57 indicates that 57% of the variation in Foreign Direct Investment can be explained by these three variables. These findings emphasize the importance of controlling inflation, improving governance to reduce corruption, and stabilizing exchange rates in attracting foreign investment. From an Islamic economic perspective, these research results are in line with the principles of maqasid syariah, which emphasize justice, transparency, and the widespread distribution of investment benefits to achieve mutual prosperity.
