Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini berjudul “Pengolahan Bahan Pustaka di Perpustakaan Universitas Mitra Indonesia Lampung”. Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah pentingnya pengolahan bahan pustaka sebagai langkah awal dalam memberikan layanan informasi yang berkualitas kepada pemustaka. Pengolahan bahan pustaka meliputi kegiatan inventarisasi, klasifikasi, katalogisasi, pelabelan, serta shelving yang bertujuan untuk memudahkan temu kembali informasi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana proses pengolahan bahan pustaka dilakukan di Perpustakaan Universitas Mitra Indonesia Lampung, hambatan yang dihadapi, serta upaya yang dilakukan untuk mengatasinya. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif, dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengolahan bahan pustaka di Perpustakaan Universitas Mitra Indonesia sudah mengikuti tahapan standar, mulai dari inventarisasi hingga pelabelan. Namun, masih terdapat beberapa hambatan, antara lain keterbatasan sumber daya manusia, kurangnya fasilitas teknologi otomasi, serta belum optimalnya penerapan standar katalogisasi internasional. Upaya yang dilakukan antara lain dengan pembagian tugas pustakawan, penggunaan aplikasi sederhana, dan pelatihan internal.Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa pengolahan bahan pustaka di Perpustakaan Universitas Mitra Indonesia sudah berjalan cukup baik, namun masih perlu peningkatan terutama dalam pemanfaatan teknologi dan standarisasi prosedur agar layanan informasi kepada pemustaka lebih optimal. Library material processing includes activities such as inventory, classification, cataloging, labeling, and shelving, which aim to facilitate information retrieval. The purpose of this study is to identify how the processing of library materials is carried out at the Library of Universitas Mitra Indonesia Lampung, the obstacles encountered, and the efforts made to overcome them. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that library material processing at the Universitas Mitra Indonesia Library has followed standard procedures, starting from inventory to labeling. However, several obstacles still exist, including limited human resources, lack of automation technology facilities, and the suboptimal implementation of international cataloging standards. The efforts made include task distribution among librarians, the use of simple applications, and internal training.The conclusion of this research is that the processing of library materials at the Universitas Mitra Indonesia Library has been carried out fairly well, but still requires improvements, particularly in the utilization of technology and the standardization of procedures, in order to optimize information services for users.
