Abstract

ABSTRACT Learning speaking skills requires the right learning media to be successful. One good method for successful learning in students' speaking skill during the learning process is the use of mystery box media. The purpose of this study is to determine the significant effect on students' speaking ability after using the mystery box media on students in class X of SMK N 1Talangpadang. This research uses a quasi-experimental design. The study population consisted of 72 students from class X at SMK N 1 Talangpadang. The sample consists of 72 students from two office administration classes, OA1 as the experimental group and OA2 as the control group. The data collection techniques used are pre-tests and post-tests. The instrument used for this test focuses on speaking skills. Data analysis was conducted using content validity, construct validity, and instrumentreliability. After conducting a hypothesis test, based on the data analysis calculated by SPSS, it was found that Sig (p-value) is 0.000, which means Sig (p-value) is lower than Sig α = 0.05. It is concluded that there is a significant influence of using the mystery box media on students' speaking skill in Class Ten students at SMK N 1 Talangpadang for the 2024/2025 academic year.
