Abstract
ABSTRACT PREVALENCE AND DETECTION OF Anisakis simplex PARASITES IN MACKEREL TUNA (Euthynnus affinis) AT SEVERAL FISH LANDING BASES IN LAMPUNG BAY By Farida Ayu Lestari This study aims to identify the parasite Anisakis simplex and determine the prevalence rate of Anisakis simplex worms in mackerel tuna (Euthynnus affinis), as well as the effect of fish body length and weight on prevalence. The method used was a survey with a quantitative descriptive approach at PPI Lempasing, PPI Gudang Lelang, and PPI Rangai Tritunggal, South Lampung. A total of 150 mackerel tuna were sampled, consisting of 50 fish from each PPI. Parasite examination was conducted by dissecting the digestive tract and liver, followed by microscopic identification. The results showed that the prevalence of Anisakis simplex infection in mackerel tuna at PPI Lempasing was 54% (27 out of 50 fish), with a total of 69 worms found and an infection intensity of 2.5 worms per infected fish. At PPI Gudang Lelang, the infection prevalence was 32% (16 out of 50 fish), with a total of 40 worms found and an infection intensity of 2.6 worms per fish. Lastly, at PPI Rangai Tritunggal, the prevalence was 28% (14 out of 50 fish), with a total of 33 worms found and an infection intensity of 2.36 worms per fish. These results indicate that mackerel tuna in all three PPIs were infected with Anisakis simplex, with a moderate level of infection. Therefore, quality control of marketed marine fish and public education regarding the risks of consuming raw fish are necessary to prevent the transmission of zoonotic diseases. Keywords: Anisakis simplex, prevalence, Euthynnus affinis, fish landing base iv.
