Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aimed to explore the perceptions of sixth-semester students of the English Education Study Program at UIN Raden Intan Lampung regarding the role of QuillBot as a medium for learning English vocabulary. The background of this research is based on the increasing use of Artificial Intelligence media, such as QuillBot, which has potential as an authentic language learning resource. This research emphasises the importance of vocabulary knowledge as a foundation for mastering the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. This study used a qualitative approach. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire and semi structured interviews with 50 QuillBot students. The interview instrument was developed based on Patton and Moleong's Theory, while the questionnaire was designed using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). The study's results indicate that most informants hold a positive view of using QuillBot as a vocabulary learning tool. They felt more helpful, motivated, and able to acquire new vocabulary in a contextual setting through the press. The findings revealed that students found QuillBot a valuable and practical tool for improving vocabulary acquisition. Most participants reported that features such as Paraphraser and Synonym Finder improved their understanding of word usage and sentence construction. Additionally, QuillBot promotes self-directed learning and boosts student motivation through its ease of access and real-time feedback. The study concludes that QuillBot can be an effective supplementary medium for vocabulary development and recommends its judicious integration into digital-based language learning strategies.
