Abstract

One of the primary objectives of a nation in implementing development is to achieve social welfare. However, challenges persist in the development process, with poverty being a significant issue. Poverty is characterized by an individual's inability to fulfill basic life necessities. In Indonesia, poverty remains a pressing concern, as the poverty rate has fluctuated annually across different provinces over the past five years (2018–2022), peaking in 2021. This study aims to analyze the impact of social assistance, education level, and open unemployment rate on poverty. The research employs a purposive sampling method, selecting data spanning the years 2018– 2022. The data includes information on the poor population, budget realization for social assistance spending from the regional government budget (APBD), the average length of schooling, and the open unemployment rate from 34 provinces in Indonesia. The study utilizes panel data regression analysis, conducted using Eviews 13 software. The findings indicate that social assistance has a positive and significant effect on poverty in Indonesia from 2018 to 2022. Conversely, the level of education has a negative but insignificant impact on poverty within the same period. Meanwhile, the open unemployment rate has a positive yet insignificant effect on poverty.
