Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan peran pemimpin redaksi dalam meningkatkan kualitas berita politik di media daring Rilis.id Lampung pada era digital. Perkembangan teknologi informasi telah mengubah cara kerja media massa, di mana kecepatan dan aksesibilitas informasi menjadi prioritas utama. Namun, kondisi ini sering kali berdampak pada penurunan standar jurnalistik, khususnya dalam hal akurasi dan objektivitas. Dalam situasi tersebut, pemimpin redaksi memegang tanggung jawab penting sebagai pengarah kebijakan editorial dan pengawas utama terhadap proses produksi berita, mulai dari tahap perencanaan, peliputan, hingga publikasi. Penelitian ini juga menyoroti bagaimana pemimpin redaksi menjalankan peran strategisnya dalam menjaga integritas dan kualitas pemberitaan politik yang disajikan kepada publik. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara mendalam dengan pemimpin redaksi, wartawan, dan staf redaksi Rilis.id Lampung. Selain itu, peneliti juga melakukan observasi langsung terhadap proses kerja redaksi serta telaah dokumen redaksional seperti pedoman pemberitaan, laporan evaluasi, dan standar operasional prosedur (SOP). Dengan pendekatan ini, penelitian berusaha menggambarkan secara komprehensif bagaimana manajemen redaksi dijalankan untuk memastikan berita politik yang dipublikasikan memiliki nilai jurnalistik yang tinggi dan dapat dipercaya oleh audiens. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemimpin redaksi Rilis.id Lampung memiliki peran yang sangat krusial dalam menjaga kualitas dan objektivitas berita politik. Peran ini dijalankan melalui berbagai strategi, seperti penerapan kebijakan editorial yang ketat, pengawasan konten secara berkala, pelaksanaan pelatihan dan evaluasi terhadap kinerja wartawan, serta mendorong profesionalisme melalui Uji Kompetensi Wartawan (UKW). Selain itu, mekanisme verifikasi dan pengecekan ulang juga menjadi bagian penting dalam proses produksi berita untuk memastikan keakuratan informasi. Kesimpulannya, di tengah derasnya arus informasi digital dan tantangan disinformasi, pemimpin redaksi memiliki posisi yang sangat strategis dalam membangun budaya jurnalistik yang profesional, bertanggung jawab, dan berorientasi pada kualitas. ABSTRACT This study aims to describe the role of the editor-in-chief in improving the quality of political news in the online media outlet Rilis.id Lampung in the digital era. The development of information technology has transformed the way mass media operates, where the speed and accessibility of information have become top priorities. However, this condition often leads to a decline in journalistic standards, particularly in terms of accuracy and objectivity. In such a situation, the editor-in-chief holds a vital responsibility as the director of editorial policies and the main supervisor of the news production process, from planning and reporting to publication. This research also highlights how the editor-in-chief strategically maintains the integrity and quality of political news presented to the public. This study employs a qualitative approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the editor-in-chief, journalists, and editorial staff of Rilis.id Lampung. In addition, the researcher conducted direct observation of newsroom workflows and examined editorial documents such as news guidelines, evaluation reports, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Through this approach, the research aims to comprehensively portray how newsroom management is carried out to ensure that published political news upholds high journalistic values and earns audience trust. The findings indicate that the editor-in-chief of Rilis.id Lampung plays a crucial role in maintaining the quality and objectivity of political news. This role is carried out through various strategies, including the implementation of strict editorial policies, regular content supervision, training and performance evaluation for journalists, and the promotion of professionalism through the Journalist Competency Test. Furthermore, verification and cross checking mechanisms are essential components of the news production process to ensure the accuracy of information. In conclusion, amid the rapid flow of digital information and the challenges of disinformation, the editor-in-chief holds a highly strategic position in fostering a professional, responsible, and quality oriented journalistic culture.
