Abstract

ABSTRAK Berdasarkan hasil pra penelitian yang dilakukan di SMPN 24 Bandar Lampung, masih rendahnya pemahaman konsep dan keterampilan komunikasi ilmiah peserta didik. Sehingga dibutuhkannya inovasi baru dalam penerapan model pembelajaran yang sesuai. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran POE (Predict, Observe, Explain) terhadap pemahaman konsep dan keterampilan komunikasi ilmiah peserta didik kelas VII pada mata pelajaran IPA biologi. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan model Quasy Experimen Design. Desain yang digunakan ialah Pre-test dan Post-test Control Grup Design. Teknik pengumpulan data terdiri dari tes berupa soal essay pemahaman konsep, non tes berupa angket keterampilan komunikasi ilmiah dan dokumentasi. Instrumen penelitian ini terdiri atas 10 butir soal essay untuk mengukur pemahaman konsep dan 18 butir soal pernyataan untuk keterampilan komunikasi ilmiah. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh peserta didik kelas VII SMPN 24 Bandar Lampung. Teknik sampling dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling dan diperoleh kelas 7.1 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan 7.8 sebagai kelas kontrol. Kelas eksperimen menggunakan model pembelajaran POE (Predict, Observe, Explain) dan kelas kontrol menggunakan model pembelajaran Discovery Learning. Uji analisis yang digunakan adalah uji-t independen pemahaman konsep dan keterampilan komunikasi ilmiah yang menunjukkan nilai yang sama bahwa sig. (2-tailed) sebesar 0.000 < (0.05), maka H0 ditolak dan H1 diterima. Sehingga hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh penggunaan pembelajaran POE (Predict, Observe, Explain) terhadap pemahaman konsep dan keterampilan komunikasi ilmiah peserta didik kelas VII pada mata pelajaran IPA biologi. So that new innovations are needed in the application of appropriate learning models. This study aims to determine the effect of the POE (Predict, Observe, Explain) learning model on the understanding of concepts and scientific communication skills of seventh grade students in biological science subjects. This research is a quantitative research with Quasy Experimen Design model. The design used is Pre-test and Post-test Control Group Design. Data collection techniques consisted of tests in the form of concept understanding essay questions, non-tests in the form of scientific communication skills questionnaires and documentation. This research instrument consists of 10 essay questions to measure concept understanding and 18 statement questions for scientific communication skills. The population in this study were all seventh grade students of SMPN 24 Bandar Lampung. The sampling technique in this study used cluster random sampling technique and obtained class 7.1 as the experimental class and 7.8 as the control class. The experimental class used POE (Predict, Observe, Explain) learning model and the control class used Discovery Learning model. The analysis test used is an independent t-test of concept understanding and scientific communication skills which shows the same value that sig. (2-tailed) of 0.000 < (0.05), then H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. So the results of this study can be concluded that there is an effect of using POE (Predict, Observe, Explain) learning on the understanding of concepts and scientific communication skills of seventh grade students in biological science subjects.
