Abstract
ABSTRACT THE INFLUENCE OF SEND A PROBLEM TECHNIQUE TOWARDS STUDENTS’ WRITING ABILITY OF PROCEDURE TEXT AT THE SECOND GRADE OF SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL By : NURMA AZIZA The send a problem’ technique is a collaborative teaching method that promotes higher-order thinking skills, including synthesis and evaluation. In this method, students work together to analyze, organize, and respond to questions or problems circulated among peers in small groups. This study aimed to investigate the influence of the Send a Problem technique on students’ writing ability in producing procedure texts. A quasi-experimental design was employed, involving two classes: the experimental group (taught using the Send a Problem technique) and the control group (taught using conventional methods). The experimental class (XI A) consisted of 24 students, while the control class (XI B) consisted of 26 students. The population comprised all second-grade students of MA Muhammadiyah Sukarame, Bandar Lampung, and a sample of 50 students was selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using pre-tests and post-tests and were analyzed using an independent samples t-test conducted with SPSS software. The results indicated a significant difference between the experimental and control groups, with a significance value of p = 0.000, which is less than the alpha level of 0.05. Therefore, the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. The findings suggest that the Send a Problem technique significantly enhances students’ writing ability in ii procedure texts. Students in the experimental group demonstrated improved organization, vocabulary usage, and grammatical accuracy compared to those in the control group. These findings imply that collaborative problem-solving techniques, such as send a problem, can serve as an effective strategy to enhance students’ engagement and writing skills in procedural genres.
