Abstract

ABSTRACT In learning English, reading is one of the English skills that must be mastered by the students. The students who can master reading skills will help them understand the meaning of the text and increase their knowledge. The students' reading comprehension in SMP Integral Minhajuth Thullab Way Jepara is still low, especially in reading the report text. Therefore, the objective of this research is to know whether there is a significant influence of using the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) Learning model on students' reading Comprehension of Report Text. This research used quantitative research. The researcher used a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group. The sample was taken from two classes, IX B and IX C, which consist of 38 students. The treatment was held in 3 meetings, 2 X 30 for each. The population of the research was the ninth grade at SMP Integral Minhajuth Thullab Way Jepara, and the instrument used was a multiple-choice test. After conducting the try-out, the instruments were used for pre-test and post-test. The total items on the pretest was 28, and the post-test had 26 items. After giving pre-test and post-test, the researcher analyzed the data by using SPSS to compute an independent sample t-test. After giving the post-test, the researcher analyzed the data. From the data analysis, the result can be seen from sig. (2-tailed) of the equal variance assumed in the independent sample t-test table where the sig. (2-tailed) is 0.006. It is lower than α = 0.05, and it means that Ho is rejected and H1 is accepted. Based on the result of data analysis, the researcher concludes that there is a significant influence of using the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) Learning model on Students' Reading Comprehension of Report Text.
