Abstract

ABSTRACT THE INFLUENCE OF USING DEEP ENGLISH CHATBOT TOWARDS STUDENTS’ SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE MASTERY AT THE FIRST SEMESTER OF THE EIGHTH GRADE OF SMP NEGERI 18 BANDAR LAMPUNG IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR OF 2024/2025 By: Savira Anjani In the teaching and learning process in the classroom, there were students who found some difficulties in learning English, especially the simple present tense. In other words, the difficulty could be seen from students’ lack of ability to understand basic grammar structures. The objective of this research was to determine whether there was a significant influence of using the Deep English Chatbot Towards Students’ Simple Present Tense Mastery. The research was a quasi-experimental design. The population of this research was students of eighth grade of SMP Negeri 18 Bandar Lampung. The researcher took the sample by using cluster random sampling technique and determined that VIII C as the experimental class and VIII E as the control class, consisted 55 students. The researcher used pre-test and post-test to know the students’ simple present tense mastery before and after treatment. The researcher analyzed the data using Paired Sample T-test, because the data were normal distribution and have same homogenous. From the result of hypothetical test, it was found that the result of Sig. (2-tailed) of t-test for equality of means assumed was 0.000 and α = 0.05. It means, Sig (P value) 0.000 < α = 0.05, Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. Based on the computation, it could be concluded that there was a significant a significant influence of using Deep English Chatbot Towards Students’ Simple Present Tense Mastery at the First Semester of the Eighth Grade of SMP Negeri 18 Bandar Lampung in the Academic Year of 2024/2025.
