Abstract

ABSTRACT Listening comprehension is the ability to understand spoken language. This ability is an important part of English language proficiency, especially for English language learning. Listening may be more difficult than reading because students often find it easier to recognize written words than spoken words. Students are still confused and have difficulty in listening, because the teacher only reads the text and then the students listen to the text. Students also had lack of vocabulary which causes students to be confused in understanding the sentences conveyed by the speaker Based on the results of preliminary research, 7th grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Bandar Lampung have problems learning listening comprehension. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there was a significant influence of using the Edpuzzle Application on students' listening comprehension. The research was conducted using experimental design. The population of this research was 7th grade students. The samples were to class, class 7.1 for the experimental class and 7.3 for the control class. In data collection, the researcher used instruments, namely pre test and post-test. After conducting the pre-test and post-test, the researcher analyzed the data to calculate the independent sample t-test using SPSS V.25 to determine whether the data was normal and homogeneous. Based on the results of data calculation using SPSS V.25, this research shows that the data is normal and also homogeneous. Based on the results of data calculation in hypothesis testing, the Sig. (2 tailed) = 0.006 <α = 0.05 value is obtained. This means that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a significant influence of the using of the Edpuzzle video application towards listening comprehension of 7th grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Bandar Lampung.
