Abstract

ABSTRACT Writing is a productive skill that calls for students to generate thoughts and messages through written texts. It is thought to be one of the key competencies that students must develop in order to succeed academically. Miming activities provide a varied teaching strategy that improves students' communication abilities, stimulates their creativity, and encourages engaged participation. The aim of this research was to know the influence of miming games on teaching writing skills, specifically in writing procedure texts, which are texts designed to explain how to do or make something through a sequence of steps. This research used a quasi-experimental design. The research was conducted at MTS Mathla’ul Anwar Rejo Agung. The population of this research was the eighth grade. A cluster random sampling was applied in selecting the research sample. The sample was taken from two classes, VIII A as the experimental class and VIII 2 as the control class. Data was collected by using a pre-test and post-test. After collecting the data, the writer analyzed it by using a t-test through SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences). The result showed that the Sig. (2-tailed) value was 0.001, which is lower than α=0.05. This indicate that the alternative hyphothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. It can be summarized that Miming games had a significant influence on eighth grade students at MTS Mathla’ul Anwar Rejo Agung, particularly in writing procedure texts.
