Abstract

ABSTRACT In learning English, vocabulary is the most important or key aspect in mastering the language. Ability and proficiency in English are characterized by mastery of vocabulary. Therefore, vocabulary learning is very important in supporting students' English language skills as a foreign language and second language. Implementing learning tactics that appeal to students' learning interests is one method to improve their English learning performance, One of the learning methods that can be used is the card sort learning method. The aim of this study was to find the significant influence in the students‘ vocabulary after using Card Sort learning method of the Seventh-grade students of MTs Nurul Hidayah Al-amin. This research used quasi-experimental design. The population of this research was the Seventh-grade of MTs Nurul Hidayah Al amin which consists of 185 students. The sample was 61 students that taken from two classes VII A as experimental class VII B as control class. The data collecting technique used pre-test and post-test. The instrument used test that focused on verb, pronoun and nouns. The data analysis used content validity, construct validity, item validity, and reliability of instruments. After doing hypothetical test, based on the data analysis computed by SPSS, it was obtained that Sig (P- value) were < 0.001, means Sig (P-value) was lower than Sig α = < 0.05. it concluded that there was a significant influence of card sort learning method towards students‘ vocabulary mastery at Seventh Grade at Mts Nurul Hidayah Al-Amin.
