ABSTRACT Students in their daily lives will always socialize and build relationships with fellow students. Good and close relationships will color their life, whether it will be better or vice versa. A good and close relationship will make them friends, while a bad relationship will make them unfamiliar and even enemies. This research aims to examine the relationship between tocix friendship and mental health in islamic counseling students. This research is quantitative research using a descriptive quantitative approach. The population was 66 students majoring in Islamic guidance and counseling in semesters 3 and 5. The sampling technique used was random sampling using the total sampling techniq, obtaining 66 samples, with research instrument measurements, namely: likert scale. Data collection techniques through questionnaires. The data analysis techniques used are frequency analysis techniques, correlation analysis and simple linear regression analysis techniques with the help of spss version 20.0 software. Results of research on the frequency of Toxic Friendship in the no Toxic Friendship category among students of the Islamic Guidance and Counseling Department. This is based on data collection from 66 respondents, 38 respondents or a percentage of 57.6% of toxic friendships are in the medium category, 16 respondents or a percentage of 24.2% of toxic friendships are in the low category and 12 respondents or a percentage of 18.2% of toxic friendships are in the high category. The mental health of 35 respondents. The condition or percentage of 53% of their mental health is in the moderate category, 15 respondents or a percentage of 22.7% of their mental health is in the strong category and 16 respondents or a percentage of 24.2% of their mental health is in the weak category. From the correlation table, it can be seen that the relationship between the independent variables, namely toxic friendship (x) and mental health (y), shows a relationship in the weak category at a confidence figure of 95% with a correlation value of 0.252. A positive value indicates a unidirectional and positive correlation between toxic friendship and mental health, that is, when toxic friendship is higher, mental health becomes worse and the opposite applies. Next, we tested the significance of the correlation between toxic friendships and mental health by looking at the significance value (sig2 – tailed) and obtained a value of 0.041, less than 0.05, which means that the correlation is significant. Keywords: Mental Health, Toxic Friendship.
