Abstract

ABSTRACT ii Speaking is one of the English language skills that students must master. Common issues faced by students in speaking English include a lack of vocabulary, low confidence, fear of making mistakes, and limited time for speaking skill development. This study discusses the influence of using dubbing video towards students speaking skill at the eleventh grade of SMAN 15 Bandar Lampung. The research approach used in this study was quantitative method by using a quasi-experimental design. The population of this research was the students‟ eleventh grade of SMA N 15 Bandar Lampung in academic year of 2024/2025 with totals 174 students. The total sample in this research was 70 students. In collecting the data, the researcher gave treatment in experimental class and no treatment to control class and pre-test also post-test in both of class by gave an oral test that requires students to tell the biography of a character in English. After giving the test, the researcher analyzed the data by using SPSS Statistic 25. The result of the study is the data had not normal distribution but homogeneous, then the hypothetical test used the Mann-Whitney U showed the Sig.(Pvalue) = .000. It was lower than α = 0.05 and it means that H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. It can be concluded that there is a significant effect of using dubbing video towards students speaking skill at the eleventh grade of SMA 15 Bandar Lampung in academic year of 2024/2025. Keywords : Speaking skill, Dubbing Video, Quasi-Experimental Design ii ABSTRAK iii Berbicara merukan salah satu keterampilan bahasa Inggris yang harus dikuasi oleh siswa. Beberapa persoalan umum yang dihadapi oleh siswa dalam berbicara bahasa Inggris kurangnya kosakata, rendahnya rasa percaya diri, ketakutan membuat kesalahan, dan keterbatsan waktu untuk pengembangan keterampilan bicara. Peneliti ini membahasa pengaruh penggunaan dubbing video terhadap keterampilan bicara siswa kelas sebelas di SMAN 15 Bandar Lampung. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kuantitatif dengan desain kuasieksperimental. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas sebelas SMA N 15 Bandar Lampung tahun ajaran 2024/2025 dengan total 174 siswa. Jumlah sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah 70 siswa. Dalam pengumpulan data, peneliti memberikan perlakuan pada kelas eksperimen dan tanpa perlakuan pada kelas kontrol serta pre-test dan post-test di kedua kelas dengan memberikan ujian lisan yang meminta siswa menceritakan biografi seorang tokoh dalam bahasa Inggris. Setelah memberikan ujian, peneliti menganalisis data menggunakan SPSS Statistics 25. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa data tidak memiliki distribusi normal namun homogen, kemudian uji hipotesis menggunakan Mann-Whitney U menunjukkan nilai Sig. (P-value) = ,000. Nilai ini lebih rendah dari α = 0,05 dan artinya H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh signifikan penggunaan dubbing video terhadap keterampilan berbicara siswa kelas sebelas di SMAN 15 Bandar Lampung tahun ajaran 2024/2025.
