Abstract

ABSTRACT AN ANALYSIS OF TEACHER OBSTACLES IN IMPLEMENTING THE MERDEKA CURRICULUM FOR ENGLISH SUBJECT AT SMPN 18 BANDAR LAMPUNG BY ANES MELIA ZAHRAH The research entitled “An Analysis of Teacher Obstacles in Implementing the Merdeka Curriculum for English Subject at SMPN 18 Bandar Lampung” was conducted based on the fact that the school has implemented the Merdeka Curriculum for Class 7th and Grade 8th. This research aims to describe the obstacles English teachers face in classes 7th and 8th implementing the Merdeka Curriculum during learning planning, learning process, and learning evaluation at SMPN 18 Bandar Lampung. This type of research is descriptive with a qualitative approach. The place used as research is SMPN 18 Bandar Lampung, in determining the research subject using purposive sampling technique, collecting data is by conducting observations and interviews. Data validity uses technique triangulation. The data analysis model used in this research is the Miles and Huberman model. The results of this study are that there are obstacles for English teachers in grades 7th and 8th in implementing the Merdeka curriculum regarding learning planning, learning process, and learning evaluation. Obstacles found include among others there are: in difficulties in designing effective diagnostic assessments, adapting learning to students, knowledge gap between students, students' social and economic factors, unstable student attendance, students' lack of interest in learning, controlling and organizing students, students' limited language mastery, facilities and infrastructure, limited learning time, limited time for in-depth assessment, variation in students' level of understanding, and mismatch between Process and Student Outcomes.
