Abstract

ABSTRAK ANALISIS KUALITAS DAN DAYA SIMPAN MAGGOT (Hermetia illucens) KERING DALAM BERBAGAI UMUR PERTUMBUHAN DI RUMAH MAGGOT UIN RADEN INTAN LAMPUNG Oleh Diah Nur Azizah Maggot (Hermetia illucens) dapat digunakan sebagai salah satu strategi dan inovasi metode pengolahan sampah organik di lingkungan kampus UIN Raden Intan Lampung. Maggot mengandung nutrisi yang tinggi sehingga dapat dijadikan alternatif pakan untuk ternak. Tingginya nutrisi pada maggot dipengaruhi oleh umur hidupnya. Maggot dapat diolah menjadi maggot kering. Maggot kering adalah produk yang dihasilkan dari proses pengeringan maggot segar. Pengolahan maggot menjadi maggot kering yaitu untuk meningkatkan masa simpan yang lebih lama dibandingkan maggot segar. Dalam penelitian ini, maggot akan diolah menjadi maggot kering dengan umur pertumbuhan yang berbeda. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui apakah umur pertumbuhan berpengaruh terhadap kualitas kandungan nutrisi dan daya simpan maggot kering. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan yaitu kuantitatif deskriptif. Adapun umur pertumbuhan maggot yang digunakan yaitu 14 hari, 17 hari, dan 20 hari. Kualitas kandungan maggot kering yang akan diuji adalah protein, lemak, kadar abu, kadar air, dan karbohidrat. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kandungan protein tertinggi yaitu 25,39% umur 14 hari, lemak tertinggi 38,20% umur 17 hari, kadar abu tertinggi 47,44% umur 20 hari, kadar air tertinggi 2,35% umur 20 hari, dan karbohidrat tertinggi 33,83% umur 14 hari. Umur terbaik maggot kering yang dapat digunakan untuk tambahan pakan ternak adalah umur 14 hari dengan kandungan protein tertinggi yaitu sebesar 25,39% dan kadar air dan kadar abu terendah yaitu 1,87% dan 6,11%. Maggot kering dengan berbagai umur pertumbuhan yang berbeda memiliki daya simpan yang bagus yakni dapat bertahan lebih dari 3 bulan. Maggot contains high nutrients so that it can be used as an alternative feed for livestock. The high nutrition in maggots is influenced by their lifespan. Maggots can be processed into dried maggots. Dried maggot is a product that results from the drying process of fresh maggot. The processing of maggot into dried maggot is to increase the shelf life longer than fresh maggot. In this study, maggots will be processed into dried maggots with different growth ages. The purpose of this study was to find out whether the growth age affects the quality of nutrient content and the shelf life of dried maggot. The type of research used is quantitative descriptive. The growth age of the maggot used is 14 days, 17 days, and 20 days. The quality of dried maggot content to be tested is protein, fat, ash content, moisture content, and carbohydrates. The results of this study showed that the highest protein content was 25.39% at 14 days of age, the highest fat at 38.20% at the age of 17 days, the highest ash content at 47.44% at the age of 20 days, the highest moisture content at 20 days of age, and the highest carbohydrate at 33.83% at the age of 14 days. The best age of dried maggot that can be used for additional animal feed is 14 days old with the highest protein content of 25.39% and the lowest moisture content and ash content of 1.87% and 6.11%.
