Abstract

ABSTRAK Peneliti ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan bagaimana pelaksanaan layanan konseling individual dengan teknik konseling client-centered dalam menangani masalah underachievement di SMA Negeri 14 Bandar Lampung. Underachievement menjadi suatu fenomena yang sering dihadapi oleh peserta didik di berbagai jenjang pendidikan, di mana individu memiliki potensi akademik yang tinggi namun tidak mampu mencapai hasil yang sesuai dengan kemampuannya. Underachievement dipengaruhi oleh faktor internal peserta didik kurangnya motivasi, kebiasaan belajar yang tidak efektif, gaya belajar yang tidak tepat dengan penerapan pelajaran oleh guru studi, sedangkan faktor eksternal seperti lingkungan keluarga, dukungan guru, fasilitas pendidikan. Dalam konteks ini, layanan konseling individual dengan teknik konseling client-centered menjadi salah satu pendekatan yang efektif untuk membantu peserta didik mengatasi masalah underachievement. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian kualitatif yang bersifat deskriptif, dimana peneliti mendeskripsikan fenomena apa saja yang ditemui di lapangan. Data primer merupakan data yang akan diperoleh langsung dari di sekolah yang berupa tanggapan responden yang diperoleh melalui observasi, dokumentasi, dan wawancara dengan guru bimbingan dan konseling, sedangkan data sekunder yang diperoleh berupa catatan guru bimbingan konseling dan dokumen-dokumen berupa rencana pelaksanaan layanan (RPL), assessment kebutuhan peserta didik (AKPD), dokumentasi berupa foto. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa upaya guru BK ialah melakukan kolaborasi kepada guru bidang studi terkait yang ada di SMA Negeri 14 Bandar Lampung, dan informasi dari wali kelas, kemudian guru BK melakukan pemantauan di sekolah, baik dengan pengamatan hasil belajar peserta didik melalui absensi, nilai tugas, dan nilai raport dan yang terakhir guru bimbingan dan konseling melakukan adanya layanan konseling individu dengan teknik konseling client iv centered, melalui layanan tersebut guru bimbingan dan konseling mampu membantu peserta didik dalam mengatasi berbagai masalah yang mempengaruhi prestasi belajar mereka. Simpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa layanan konseling individual dengan teknik konseling client-centered dapat menjadi strategi yang bermanfaat dalam mendukung peserta didik yang mengalami underachievement, serta memberikan wawasan bagi pengembangan layanan konseling di sekolah. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi bagi praktik konseling di lingkungan pendidikan. Kata kunci: Layanan Konseling Individual, Teknik Konseling Client Centered, Underachievement. v ABSTRACT This research aims to describe how the implementation of individual counseling services with client-centered counseling techniques in dealing with underachievement problems at SMA Negeri 14 Bandar Lampung. Underachievement is a phenomenon often faced by students at various levels of education, where individuals have high academic potential but are unable to achieve results in accordance with their abilities. Underachievement is not only influenced by internal factors such as lack of motivation, ineffective learning habits, inappropriate learning styles with the application of lessons by study teachers, while external factors such as family environment, teacher support, educational facilities. In this context, individual counseling services with client-centered counseling techniques are one of the effective approaches to help students overcome the problem of underachievement. This research uses a descriptive type of qualitative research, where researchers describe any phenomena encountered in the field. Primary data is data that will be obtained directly from schools in the form of respondents' responses obtained through observation, documentation, and interviews with guidance and counseling teachers, while secondary data obtained in the form of counseling guidance teacher notes and documents in the form of service implementation plans (RPL), assessment of learner needs (AKPD), documentation in the form of photos. Based on the results of this study, it shows that the efforts of the guidance and counseling teacher are to collaborate with related subject teachers at SMA Negeri 14 Bandar Lampung, and information from homeroom teachers, then the guidance and counseling teacher conducts monitoring at school, both by observing the learning outcomes of students through attendance, assignment grades, and report cards and finally the guidance and counseling teacher conducts individual counseling services with client centered counseling techniques, vi through these services the guidance and counseling teacher is able to assist students in overcoming various problems that affect their learning achievement. The conclusion of this study is that individual counseling services with client-centered counseling techniques can be a useful strategy in supporting learners who experience underachievement, as well as providing insight for the development of counseling services in schools. This research is expected to contribute to the practice of counseling in the educational environment.
