Abstract

ABSTRACT The objectives of this research are to analyze the types of error in the performance of Google Translate and Bing Translator in translating Indonesian educational songs and to analyze the frequency errors found in the performance of Google Translate and Bing Translator in translating Indonesian educational songs. The method of research is content or document analysis. There are five song that were analyzed namely Wajib Belajar, Hymne Guru, Hymne Siswa, Semua Murid Semua Guru and Hari Pendidikan Nasional. The subject of this research is the song lyrics of Indonesian educational songs. The data focuses on analysis missing word, word order, incorrect word, unknown word and punctuation error. Based on the findings, the types of errors in Google Translate are significantly lower compared to Bing Translator. In Google Translate, there are no instances of missing word errors, showcasing its ability to retain the complete meaning and structure of the source text. In contrast, Bing Translator exhibits errors across all identified categories, including missing word errors, which indicate omissions that can distort the original message. Bing Translator produces more errors overall, with a total of 38 (63.33%) compared to Google Translate's 22 (36.67%). Bing Translator particularly struggles with "Incorrect Word" (18 errors) and "Word Order" (13 errors), reflecting significant inaccuracies in sentence structure and meaning. In contrast, Google Translate shows better accuracy, with fewer errors in these categories and no instances of "Missing Word" errors, further highlighting its reliability. These results indicate that Google Translate generally offers a more accurate and coherent translation compared to Bing Translator.
