Abstract

ABSTRACT The Influence of Exit Slips Towards Student’s Writing in Procedure Text at SMP Gajah Mada Bandar Lampung The objective of this research is to know whether there is significant influence of using Exit Slips towards students writing in procedure text at SMP Gajah Mada Bandar Lampung. Writing is the process of transforming thoughts into meaningful sentences or texts. The research used Exit Slips toward student’s writing in procedure text. Use Exit Slips towards student’s writing ability in procedure text is a technique and give students the opportunity to reflect on what they had learned, to ask questions or concerns, and summarize the key points of the learning session. The research focused on ninth-grade students at SMP Gajah Mada Bandar Lampung difficulties in learning English, particularly in writing procedure text. This research used a quasi-experimental design to investigate the research objectives. The population consisted of 87 ninth grade students from Gajah Mada Junior High School Bandar Lampung. The researcher used cluster random sampling technique to select the sample, which consisted of two classes: IX A as the experimental class and IX C as the control class, each consisting of 29 students. To collect data, the researcher administered a pre-test and post-test to evaluate students' performance. After the tests were conducted, the data were analyzed for normality and homogeneity to ensure they met the assumptions required for further statistical testing. Using SPSS version 30, the researcher conducted an independent sample t-test to determine the significance of the results. From the data analysis that the significance value (Sig. 2- tailed) the equal variance assumed condition was 0.001 and α = 0.05. Ha is accepted if Sig. < α = 0.05 and Ho is accepted if Sig > α = 0.05. Its means that, Sig. 0.001 < α = 0.05. The results showed 0.001 < α = 0.05. Therefore Ha was accepted. It can be concluded that there was significant influence of using exit slips towards students writing procedure text at the SMP Gajah Mada Bandar Lampung.
