Abstract

ABSTRAK Koleksi bahan pustaka yang terdapat di Perpustakaan SMP N 4 Krui Kabupaten Pesisir Barat mengalami kerusakan, namun kerusakan yang sering terjadi pada koleksi bahan pustaka di Perpustakaan SMP N 4 Krui Kabupaten Pesisir Barat belum diketahui penyebabnya oleh pengelola perpustakaan SMP N 4 Krui Kabupaten Pesisir Barat. Berdasarkan latar belakang di atas peneliti tertarik untuk melakukan penelitian dengan judul “Analisis Faktor Kerusakan Dan Upaya Perawatan Bahan Pustaka di SMP N 4 Krui Kabupaten Pesisir Barat.” Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis faktor kerusakan dan upaya perawatan bahan pustaka di SMP N 4 Krui Kabupaten Pesisir Barat. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian lapangan (field research). Informan dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 2 orang pengelola perpustakaan SMP N 4 Krui Kabupaten Pesisir Barat. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisa data dengan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian mengemukakan bahwa faktor kerusakan bahan pustaka di Perpustakaan SMP N 4 Krui Kabupaten Pesisir Barat yaitu faktor internal seperti rendahnya kualitas kertas pada buku. Dan faktor ekternal yaitu faktor lingkungan seperti suhu, cahaya, serangga, debu, jamur dan faktor manusia. Upaya perawatan bahan pustaka di Perpustakaan SMP N 4 Krui Kabupaten Pesisir Barat yaitu memperbaiki buku dengan fotocopy yang rusak, meletakan rak-rak koleksi tersebut jauh dari dinding perpustakaan, memindahkan koleksi bahan pustaka ke tempat yang tidak disinari oleh cahaya yang terlalu berlebihan seperti cahaya matahari, membersihkan lingkungan perpustakaan, dan melakukan pengasapan. Based on the background above, researchers are interested in conducting research with the title "Analysis of Damage Factors and Efforts to Care for Library Materials at SMP N 4 Krui, Pesisir Barat Regency." The aim of this research is to analyze damage factors and maintenance efforts for library materials at SMP N 4 Krui, Pesisir Barat Regency. This research includes field research. The informants in this research were 2 library managers at SMP N 4 Krui, Pesisir Barat Regency. Data collection techniques using interviews, observation and documentation. Data analysis techniques using data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the research showed that the factors causing damage to library materials in the SMP N 4 Krui Library, Pesisir Barat Regency were internal factors such as the low quality of the paper in the books. And external factors are environmental factors such as temperature, light, insects, dust, mold and human factors. Efforts to maintain library materials in the SMP N 4 Krui Library, Pesisir Barat Regency include repairing books with damaged photocopies, placing the collection shelves away from the library walls, moving the library material collection to a place that is not illuminated by too much light such as sunlight, clean the library environment, and carry out fumigation.
