Abstract

ABSTRACT Field Experience Practice (PPL) is a compulsory course at the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, Raden Intan Lampung State Islamic University, which is important to increase students' knowledge and teaching experience. The purpose of this research is to analyze the challenges and how to overcome the challenges of seventh semester English Education students in implementing the PPL program. This research used a descriptive-qualitative method, data were collected through interviews with 25 student subjects with 25 questions lasting about 5-18 minutes. The data were transcribed, analyzed, and categorized into procedural, managerial, psychological, instructional, and professional challenges. The results showed diverse challenges, including procedural of 2 students, managerial of 11 students, psychological of 2 students, instructional of 8 students, and professional of 2 students. Generally, seventh semester students faced managerial challenges related to classroom management and time management. Students found several solutions to overcome these challenges, such as adapting the school environment and also communicating with students, being patient and giving firm rules, understanding student characters and student needs, applying learning methods with students, and managing time and making a daily schedule well. The researcher recommends expanding the perspectives of supervising teachers, students, and other school environments to get more specific information related to challenges and how to overcome challenges in the implementation of PPL programs at schools.
