Abstract

ABSTRAK Pemahaman konsep siswa di SMPN 2 Tanjung Sari, Lampung Selatan masih tergolong rendah. Rendahnya pemahaman konsep ini diduga disebabkan oleh kurangnya minat belajar siswa terhadap pelajaran IPA. Pelajaran IPA sering dianggap sulit dan membosankan oleh siswa, sehingga minat belajar mereka terhadap mata pelajaran ini menjadi rendah. Selain itu, model pembelajaran yang kurang variatif serta minimnya penggunaan media pembelajaran turut menjadi faktor yang memengaruhi rendahnya kemampuan pemahaman konsep siswa. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut, diperlukan inovasi dalam model pembelajaran. Salah satu model pembelajaran yang dapat digunakan adalah Problem-Based Learning (PBL) berbantuan Lembar Kerja Siswa (LKPD). PBL berbantuan LKPD dipilih karena memiliki potensi untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep sains siswa melalui pendekatan pembelajaran yang interaktif dan berpusat pada siswa. Dengan model ini, siswa diajak untuk aktif berpikir kritis dalam memecahkan masalah yang relevan dengan kehidupan sehari-hari, sehingga diharapkan dapat meningkatkan minat belajar dan pemahaman konsep mereka terhadap pelajaran IPA. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh model pembelajaran problem based learning (PBL) berbantuan LKPD terhadap pemahaman konsep pada siswa kelas VII SMP. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah quasy eksperiment dengan desain penelitian Pretest-Postest Control Group Design. Populasi pada penelitian berjumlah 110 siswa kelas VII SMPN 2 Tanjung Sari. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari dua kelas yaitu kelas VII 5 sebagai kelas kontrol dan VII 6 sebagai kelas eksperimen yang dipilih dengan teknik random sampling. Instrumen pengumpulan data berupa soal essay yang berjumlah 7 butir soal. Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan diketahui bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan model pembelajaran problem based learning (PBL) berbantuan LKPD terhadap pemahaman konsep siswa. Dengan data analisis yang diperoleh menunjukkan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,002 yang berarti signifikansi < 0,05 sehingga H1 diterima. Hal ini membuktikan bahwa model pembelajaran problem based learning (PBL) berbatuan LKPD berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan pemahaman konsep siswa. This low level of understanding is suspected to be caused by the lack of interest in learning science. Science subjects are often considered difficult and boring by students, reducing their motivation to engage with the subject. Furthermore, the lack of variety in teaching models and limited use of educational media are also factors contributing to students' low conceptual understanding. To address this issue, innovation in teaching models is necessary. One effective approach is the implementation of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) supported by Student Worksheets (LKPD). PBL with LKPD has been chosen due to its potential to enhance students' understanding of scientific concepts through an interactive and student-centered learning approach. This model encourages students to think critically and solve problems relevant to their daily lives, which is expected to increase their interest and comprehension in science subjects. This study aims to examine the effect of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model supported by LKPD on the conceptual understanding of seventh-grade students. The research uses a quasi�experimental method with a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The population consists of 110 seventh-grade students at SMPN 2 Tanjung Sari. The research sample includes two classes, namely class VII 5 as the control group and class VII 6 as the experimental group, selected using a random sampling technique. The data collection instrument consists of seven essay questions. Based on the research conducted, it was found that there is a significant effect of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model supported by LKPD on students' conceptual understanding. The data analysis shows a significance value of 0.002, which means the significance is < 0.05, thus H1 is accepted. This proves that the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model supported by LKPD positively affects students' conceptual understanding.
