Abstract

ABSTRACT THE INFLUENCE OF ROUNTABLE TECHNIQUE TOWARDS STUDENTS’ PERSUASIVE TEXT WRITING ABILITY AT THE EIGHT GRADE OF JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL 6 BANDAR LAMPUNG ON 2023/2024 By: LYDIA HAMIDAH Writing is one of the most difficult skills in English for students. Most of the students at SMPN 6 Bandar Lampung, especially in Eighth grade, still have difficulty in writing in English. The problems are they are not interested in writing, feel monotonous with the techniques used, have difficulty memorizing grammar and vocabulary in English, and also have difficulty in conveying their ideas in writing. The purpose of this study is to determine whether there is a significant influence of the roundtable technique that has been applied and to measure the extent of the influence of this technique on students' writing skills after being applied in persuasive texts. All methods used. Two classes were selected using Cluster Random Sampling to determine the control and experimental classes. From a population of 248 students, 30 students were chosen from class VIII A as the experimental group and 31 students from class VIII D as the control group. To collect data, this study used a writing test as an instrument. A pre-test was conducted before the treatment was given to the experimental class and a post-test was conducted after the treatment. After collecting the data, the researcher used SPSS V.25 to analyze the data From the data analysis, it was found that the results obtained in the independent sample t-test showed a significant value of Sig. (P�value) = 0.026 < α = 0.05. This means that Ha is accepted and there is a significant effect of using the Round Table Technique on the students' writing ability in persuasive texts in the second semester of eighth grade at SMPN 6 Bandar Lampung in the 2023/2024 academic year.
