Abstract

ABSTRAK Teori keadilan yang secara teoretis tampak ideal sering kali menghadapi tantangan dalam penerapannya di masyarakat, terutama saat berhadapan dengan budaya yang berlaku. Salah satu contohnya adalah keadilan dalam hubungan perempuan dan laki-laki, di mana perempuan kerap mengalami penindasan. Posisi perempuan dalam masyarakat sering terdistorsi dan terpinggirkan akibat pembentukan norma budaya tertentu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji paradigma teori keadilan John Rawls serta menganalisis relevansinya terhadap gerakan kesetaraan gender. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah studi kepustakaan dengan memanfaatkan sumber data primer dan sekunder, serta pendekatan induktif untuk menarik kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa paradigma teori keadilan John Rawls berpusat pada konsep 'keadilan sebagai kewajaran', yang dijelaskan melalui dua prinsip keadilan, yang didahului oleh gagasan tentang posisi asali dan selubung ketidaktahuan serta equiblirium antara kebebasan dan kesejahteraan untuk mendukung paradigma tersebut. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa teori keadilan Rawls memiliki potensi besar untuk mendukung gerakan kesetaraan gender baik dari perspektif teoretis maupun praktis, sekaligus menyoroti perlunya penerapan prinsip-prinsip keadilan dalam konteks sosial yang lebih luas. ABSTRACTThe theory of justice, which appears ideal in theory, often faces challenges in its application in society, especially when confronted with prevailing cultural norms. One example is justice in the relationship between women and men, where women often experience oppression. The position of women in society is frequently distorted and marginalized due to the formation of certain cultural norms. This study aims to examine the justice theory paradigm of John Rawls and analyze its relevance to the gender equality movement. The method used in this study is literature review, utilizing primary and secondary data sources, as well as an inductive approach to draw conclusions. The research findings show that John Rawls' justice theory paradigm focuses on the concept of 'justice as fairness', which is explained through two principles of justice, preceded by the idea of the original position and the veil of ignorance, as well as the equilibrium between freedom and welfare to support this paradigm. This study emphasizes that Rawls' theory of justice has great potential to support the gender equality movement, both from a theoretical and practical perspective, while highlighting the need for the application of justice principles in a broader social context.
